Akai DPS24 MKII Digital Personal Studio Black
Akai
Tired of having your computer slam on your brakes with RAM shortages or CPU overload? It's time to get back to the reliability of a dedicated hardware studio environment. The best sounding integrated system in price range, the Akai Professional DPS24 MKII Digital Personal Studio combines a 24-track 24-bit hard disk recorder/editor, a 46-channel automated digital mixer with a complete studio monitoring section, 4 stereo effects processors with FX library, a programmable patchbay and a mastering suite with built-in CD-RW drive, in one extremely powerful desktop unit. The DPS24 MKII adds 5.1 surround mixing to its already impressive list of features.
With its generous complement of dedicated keys, rotary encoders, and motorized faders, the DPS24 MKII's tactile user interface provides direct access to all commonly used functions, without requiring that you cursor your way through endless menus and peer at countless LCD pages just to make some small but significant adjustment.
The DPS24 MKII offers extensive and expandable connectivity: numerous analog I/Os using high-quality AD/DA converters, multiple digital I/Os, word clock, MIDI, USB, and even SCSI and SMPTE options.
Its custom real-time multitasking operating system and dedicated hardware saves you from the headaches of computer-based configurations, conflicts and crashes. Ease-of-use and reliability are the keys of the DPS24 MKII.
However, the DPS24 MKII also communicates very well with computer systems: complete audio import/export features are included, using standard Data CD and Hard disk formats, and the free akSys TrackView software allows you to view your projects on a large monitor, see waveforms scrolling across the screen and see detailed metering with a simple USB connection to your PC. The display also shows timecode, edit points and locate markers, track names/status and more. The free akSysServer utility can also be used to transfer files to/from your DPS24 MKII and PC via USB.
The DPS24 MKII is comparable to a component system, but in a box. For instance, the recorder/editor offers as many track keys as physical tracks (i.e. 24) and you can seamlessly punch-in/out individual tracks on-the-fly. It features sample accurate editing with sample accurate waveform display and analog-like multitrack audio scrubbing thanks to its dedicated jog/shuttle wheel, including varispeed and reverse playback. Both nondestructive copy/paste editing and off-line DSP functions such as timestretch and pitchshift are provided.
As another example, the digital mixer uses professional 100mm touch-sensitive motorized faders for easy and accurate control of the dynamic automation, which supports overwrite, auto-drop, return and trim modes.
Apart from the obvious requirements you would expect from a digital studio (but so rarely get!), it's the small details that also make the DPS24 MKII unique in its field. Things like MAIN/NEARFIELD and MONO monitoring switc click here for more information... |

Akai E2 Headrush Delay/Looper Pedal
Akai
The Akai E2 Headrush Delay/Looper Pedal picks up where the award-winning E1 left off. This stompbox brings together 16-bit digital delay with times from 0.5ms to an astonishing 35 seconds, tape echo simulations with 4 separate heads, and a looping recorder in one convenient effects pedal.
In addition to offering digital and analog-type delay sounds, user-selectable delay options allow for maximum control of signal output. There are several realtime interval and level adjustment selections as well as feedback level for repeats.
Headrush can also simulate a 4-head analog tape echo machine and it is possible to set the spacing between the virtual heads to create complex multiple delays and repeats. The outputs of each of the virtual heads appear on individual outputs for ultimate flexibility when used with an external mixing console.
The looping mode allows you to record and overdub layer after layer of sound in real time making Headrush an unbelievable live performance tool.
Depending upon which mode is selected, the left switch controls the on/off and play/stop functions while the right switch sets the tap delay time or recording and overdub options. The LED display indicates which effect is in use and blinks in time showing the delay time selected. click here for more information... |

Akai EWI4000S Electronic Wind Controller
Akai
The EWI 4000S Wind Instrument by Akai is a big step forward in the development of MIDI controllers and synthesizer instruments. It offers customizable sax-style fingering with advanced controls and functions for expressive performance and makes a number of higher-end synth features available. For more information on fingering options, download the Fingering Chart PDF below.
Most significant is an onboard sound module so you no longer have to play tethered. By using MIDI and an optional wireless transceiver, you can move freely onstage and switch between stored programs from the instrument. Its internal sounds are based on a virtual analog synth sound module and are very responsive to nuances of your playing. Breath, vibrato, glide time, and bend width are easily adjusted to suit your musical style, and you can send multiple MIDI messages via breath for expression and aftertouch changes.
There is also an octave key and mode that automatically doubles below the note you play, a Hold Mode which sustains a note while you play around it. It has 2 oscillators with separate volume controls, and a voltage controlled filter that can go from 2 to 4 pole filters. The EWI 4000S improves breath noise emulation and also has sostenuto.
The EWI 4000S also has a sweep function that is more effective than typical envelope generators. By changing the force of your playing you can alter the sweep parameter to give dynamic shape to your sound.
To keep controls to a minimum, the EWI 4000S comes with a MAC/PC editor program on which to customize your sounds. You can store edited programs and recall settings instantly during performance. click here for more information... |

AKG C 2000 B/H100 Microphone with Shockmount
AKG
The AKG C 2000 B/H100 Microphone with Shockmount excels in reproducing guitar and vocal sound. One of the basic rules of recording is that the quality of the recorded signal is determined by the weakest link in the signal chain. Today, any microphone needs to match the high quality of 24-bit recording media.
Therefore, one of the most important requirements for the AKG C 2000 B was high sensitivity. This allows you to lay clean, noise-free tracks with no risk of noise levels from many individual tracks combining in the mix. Its high SPL capability makes the C 2000 B a highly versatile microphone that can be used even for extremely loud instruments.
The AKG C 2000 B will deliver perfect results for demo recordings, in the rehearsal room, as well as in the best recording studios.
The C 2000 B includes a spider suspension mount and hardshell case from AKG. click here for more information... |
